Free Alternatives To The Samantha Font

The font used above is Samantha.  It's pretty hard to find another font with this many options for each letter - some letters have 20 different options in this font!  Note the 3 different lower case T's in the example above.

How to use the Samantha Font In Cricut Design Space
Cliff Notes - you need to use a character map, Maintype logic is my freeware favorite.

It's hard to beat the Samantha font.  It has SO many pretty glyphs, and many options for each letter.  It's almost always on sale for $14 at Mighty Deals, and eventually most cricut owners cave and buy it.  But there are a few free alternatives that might work in its place, depending on what you are looking for. The free fonts do not have nearly as many options - some have no real options at all, which can make them much easier to use as well.  None of these would actually replace Samantha, but they might work if you are looking for something pretty and swirly -

With almost 400 characters, and a lot of extra swashes, Respective is the closest free font I've found to Samantha.   You will definitely want a character map here.  I explain how to use the Samantha font in design space here, the same process works for this font.

Milkshake another font by Laura Worthington,  creator of the Samantha font.
I'm not sure this one is always free, however, I downloaded it last year, for free, and I found it free again today.  I had NO idea it had all these extra glyphs - I've been using it just as a plain font because it cuts so well!  But if you open the character map, there are LOTS of great extras!

I'm going to keep listing some alternatives, because, obviously, I like lists.  However, if you are looking for a Samantha alternative, for free, Respective &  Milkshake are the fonts you want.

A character map is not necessary for this font, but it can be useful.  The example above was done with no character map, that is simply the result from typing the text.

Although a character map is useful for Miss Fajardose, it is not essential.

No character map is needed for Chopin Script

No character map is needed for Precious.  Only the capital letters are super fancy.

Like when using Samantha, you will need a character map to use the extras.  There are not nearly as many options as Samantha, but there are some really pretty swirls included.  Olivia is not always free - but if you keep watching, you can often find it offered as a freebie.  Currently it is free on Behance, WITH commercial use license even.

Magnolia Sky, Free on Dafont, is one of the most popular fonts in cricut groups.

Autumn in November is another hugely popular choice - it cuts well with cricut.

The extra swashes for Bromello are only available on the full, paid, version.  But the free verson is another great font that cuts well for cricut projects.

Starfish is pretty as is, but if you are willing to use a character map (as is needed to use Samantha) there are a couple of extra options.  Not many, but the t shown here is one of the extras.
